Research Center

In January 2014, KIC established the Research Center which serves as the cornerstone for long-term value investment. Providing in-depth analysis, the Center has an important function in the investment decision-making process. In-house projections are not only used to overcome biases of external research, but they also serve as the basis for the implementation of asset allocation strategies and model portfolio construction. Research-based views that are independent of the investment management division enables a system of checks and balances, allowing for greater stability in managing entrusted assets.

Macro Research

The Macro Research Group conducts a comprehensive analysis on macroeconomic variables including the global and regional economic cycles, interest rates and foreign exchange movements. Its research is used to formulate long-term investment strategies and its global macro forecast model provides an effective framework for analysis at the global, regional and national levels. The Group is also making continuous improvements to its leading economic indicator model to enhance the accuracy of projections.

In the course of carrying out its responsibilities, the Group is fostering experts in various asset classes and countries. With its systematic approach, it is accumulating constructive data while building up expertise.

The Group is focused on providing practical research that supports investment activities including tactical asset allocation.

Industry Research

The Industry Research Group carries out bottom-up research into global equities and alternative assets. With thorough and in-depth analysis, the Group identifies potential investment targets in a timely manner, thereby contributing to enhancing returns and lowering risks. It works closely with portfolio managers across the entire investment process, from finding investment targets to portfolio management. This process plays a vital role in the pursuit of research-based value investment.

Industry research is subdivided into sector fundamentals and alternative investments.
